Scholarly Writing for Faculty Success
The Scholarly Writing for Faculty Success (SWFS) program is an initiative of the Office of the Provost designed to support sustained scholarly writing related to grant activity and promotion and tenure. The program will enroll faculty participants and will meet weekly for a three-hour facilitated writing block, providing protected writing time, structured accountability, and a shared writing community for full-time faculty across disciplines.
One faculty writing group is currently offered and two additional groups are planned for Fall 2026 (dates to follow).
Program Goals
Scholarly Writing for Faculty Success supports faculty by providing
- Weekly structured writing time
- Protected, distraction-free focus blocks
- A shared, facilitated scholarly writing community
- Accountability through goal-setting and reflection
The program builds on the Provost’s Faculty Success initiatives and responds directly to faculty-identified needs for sustained scholarly writing support.
Participant Expectations:
Participants in the Scholarly Writing for Faculty Success program are expected to
- Commit to regular weekly attendance for the full semester
- Arrive on time and remain for the full writing block
- Engage actively in goal setting and reflection
- Use session time for sustained scholarly writing
- Contribute to a supportive and accountable writing community
Faculty Fellow
Cristina Santamaría Graff, associate professor of special education in the School of Education's Urban Teacher Education Department, will serve as faculty fellow for the program.
As faculty fellow, Professor Santamaría Graff leads the design and facilitation of this semester's program and will guide its future expansion. The Spring 2026 program will inform the development of two program sections planned for Fall 2026.
