Recognizing that academic chairs and program directors fill essential roles on campus to ensure the academic and professional goals of students, staff, and faculty are met, the Office of the Provost has launched the IU Indianapolis Chairs' Leadership Academy. All IU Indianapolis department chairs and program directors are invited to attend meetings held throughout the year to discuss common leadership needs and challenges and to provide opportunities to engage with chairs across campus. An additional goal of the Academy is to build a community for these campus leaders and provide a space to develop new relationships with individuals with similar leadership responsibilities and challenges.
Jane Williams, associate dean for academic affairs and strategic initiatives, and Margie Ferguson, senior associate vice chancellor for academic affairs, are leading this initiative - but the intention is for programming to respond to the needs of the group. Topics will evolve as appropriate.
